MEETING AGENDA March 22, 2018 7:00-8:00 PM Rogers Elementary School Library 7700 Fine Road, St. Louis, Missouri Introductions and Welcome Committee Reports Fundraising- Linda Hartsell Looking at a few opportunities for restaurant nights Birthday marquee is still open (you can add half birthdays) - money used for teacher grants Jen Corp and Jessica North-Trivia Sold out Sign-up Genius coming out for volunteers - be on the lookout Priceless art projects on view in foyer tonight Treasurer- Erin Shulan (not present) about $35,000 in account $3,000 still needs to go to playground Volunteer- Jessica North and Dana Altenbernd Volunteers needed for trivia Communications- Lori Tillman Donuts with Dad - April 18 (K-2) & April 19 (3rd-5th) - 8:00 am - 8:30 am in Rogers Cafeteria Schnucks - Bags 4 My Cause program - purchase in April for $1 New Business Student of the Month (January) Kindergarten-Alex Puskarich 1st- Cerridwen Kump 2nd-Logan Payne 3rd-Ryan Hill 4th- Alyssa Boehlje 5th-Henry Paur Student of the Month (February) Kindergarten-Eli Adler 1st-Izabela Ratkovic 2nd-Trent Sturk 3rd-Mikayla Robben 4th-Vince Menne 5th-Olivia Bresler Bylaw Revision Committee Needed contact Dana at president.rpo@gmail.com if you are interested in serving on the committee Guest Speakers- School Board Candidates Tori Behlke visited Rogers on Tuesday and walked around Dr. Keenoy has lived in Oakville for 21 years supervisor of preschool - responsible for curriculum, transportation, health guidelines, safety, budget - school received national accreditation 4 children - one graduated from OHS, senior at OHS and attend South Tech, one at Bernard, and one at Oakville Elementary served on school’s PTO board served on Mehlville School District Character Education Committee worked on Early Childhood initiative been touring MSD schools   2.   Lisa Messmer graduated from Mehlville children graduated from Mehlville registered nurse & graduated from SLU Staff development coordinator - provided staff development and curriculum - instituted a mentoring program for staff e.        Currently an Infection Preventionist - must comply with state and federal regulations & Supervisor f.          involved in school’s PTO and helped with COMPASS 3. Ron Ferdorchak served on board from 2011-2015 lived in area for 27 years decided to run again - based on decline of test scores Questions from Parents School safety - plan to improve it Lisa - cameras - making sure people identify themselves, more awareness for students with problems, work with local law enforcement, serious concerns about teachers with guns, “beef up” SRO program Tori - multiple layers - there are plans and we are not aware, review our procedures and policies - will look different for each level, made note of how schools answer the buzzer and where the office is located, recognize the layer to support counselors and social workers in buildings Ron - create a department of security within the district - Campus Security Director at central office. An Update From Dr. Keenoy Closing July 27 - Night Under the Stars at the St. Louis Science Center (80 spots & opened to all elementaries) MAP Testing April 17-19 & May 1-3 (note from Dr. Keenoy coming home soon)
