The mission of the Rogers Elementary School PTO is to promote the welfare and education of our children, to raise the standards of home and school life by providing activities for our staff, our students, and their families, and to instill school pride and unite the home and school.

  1. Tori Behlke

    1. visited Rogers on Tuesday and walked around Dr. Keenoy

    2. has lived in Oakville for 21 years

    3. supervisor of preschool - responsible for curriculum, transportation, health guidelines, safety, budget - school received national accreditation

    4. 4 children - one graduated from OHS, senior at OHS and attend South Tech, one at Bernard, and one at Oakville Elementary

    5. served on school’s PTO board

    6. served on Mehlville School District Character Education Committee

    7. worked on Early Childhood initiative

    8. been touring MSD schools  

2.   Lisa Messmer

  1. graduated from Mehlville

  1. children graduated from Mehlville

  2. registered nurse & graduated from SLU

  3. Staff development coordinator - provided staff development and

curriculum - instituted a mentoring program for staff

e.        Currently an Infection Preventionist - must comply with state and

federal regulations & Supervisor

f.          involved in school’s PTO and helped with COMPASS

3. Ron Ferdorchak

  1. served on board from 2011-2015

  2. lived in area for 27 years

  3. decided to run again - based on decline of test scores

Questions from Parents

  • School safety - plan to improve it

    • Lisa - cameras - making sure people identify themselves, more awareness for students with problems, work with local law enforcement, serious concerns about teachers with guns, “beef up” SRO program

    • Tori - multiple layers - there are plans and we are not aware, review our procedures and policies - will look different for each level, made note of how schools answer the buzzer and where the office is located, recognize the layer to support counselors and social workers in buildings

    • Ron - create a department of security within the district - Campus Security Director at central office.

An Update From Dr. Keenoy

  1. Closing

  • July 27 - Night Under the Stars at the St. Louis Science Center (80 spots & opened to all elementaries)

  • MAP Testing April 17-19 & May 1-3 (note from Dr. Keenoy coming home soon)
